AltaStaff is a staffing agency currently looking for a Certified Medical Coder II (Coding Specialist) to work with our Managed Care Client!
**Must have an active medical Coding Certification (CIC or CCS)**
Pay Rate: $20.00 - 21.50 hourly
Shift: Monday-Friday, 8am-4:30pm
**This role is fully remote, but candidates must reside in one of the following states: NY, FL, GA, MI, OH, WI, IA, NM, TX or KY**
Qualified candidates must have experience specifically with facility inpatient coding!
Summary: This position serves as the primary resource for medical coding updates and information. Advises the client on coding issues, provides in-depth research on new or unusual procedures, and makes recommendations when appropriate.
Responsibilities:
Performs on-going chart reviews and abstracts diagnosis codes
Develop an understanding of current billing practices in provider offices to ensure that diagnosis and CPT codes are submitted accordingly
Coordinate with Clinical Informatics on system errors and suggest improvements to ensure effective and efficient processes are followed
Documents results/findings from chart reviews and provides feedback to management, providers, and office staff
Creates necessary tools (educational materials, newsletters, etc.) for providers to assist them in current and accurate coding practices
Monitors progress of providers to ensure Guidelines set forth by CMS (Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services) are being followed
Builds positive relationships between providers by providing coding assistance when necessary.
Responsible for administrative duties such as planning, scheduling of chart reviews, obtaining of medical records, and provider training and education
Collaborates with cross-functional team to support a variety of projects such as implementation of risk adjustment applications, development of reports, etc.
POSITION QUALIFICATIONS
Must have an active Coding Certification (CIC or CCS)
At least 2+ years in healthcare
Must have 2+ years of experience in coding and medical record chart review
Extensive knowledge in coding and claims processing (ICD and PCS)
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel
Strong attention to detail and highly organized
Work Environment Requirements:
Must be able to to lift at least 30lbs
Must be able to stand or sit for prolonged periods (75% of the time)
Private Secured Internet Connection
Must confirm work environment is safe and secure for work in handling private and sensitive information.
Constantly operates a computer and other office equipment
Constantly works indoors in a secluded safe space
Must have High-speed internet access 25 MBPS minimum; 50 MBPS minimum preferred
